In May 2014 Sterk started with placing the sheet-piling construction for the foundation pit of what will become an underground bicycle garage at Deventer station.

For contractor Hegeman- Beton en Industriebouw Nijverdal, we placed 268 metres of steel sheet piling with lengths varying from 7.5 to 10.5 metres. The location of the pit in an urban area required for the vibration-free implementation of the sheet piles. This was done by statically pressing the piles into the ground. It was a complex endeavour because of the busy environment around Deventer station and the contractors’ wish of impeding traffic as less as possible.

The sheet-piling construction was connected to the existing bicycle garage and remains in the ground. It became part of the garage. The work was executed using declutching detectors. Sterk was also responsible for the strut / bracing frame and anchoring of the sheet piling.

Once finished the underground bicycle garage will have space to stall no less than 3600 bicycles for free.
